What affects the price?
A few things typically move the number up or down:
- Manual vs automatic. Automatic lessons usually cost a little more per hour than manual — often £2–£8 extra — reflecting the higher cost of automatic dual-control vehicles and fewer instructors offering them (tyres.online, 2026).
- Block bookings. Buying lessons in a block rather than one at a time almost always works out cheaper per hour than paying as you go.
- Location and travel time. Instructors covering a wider rural area, or with more pick-up/drop-off driving between lessons, may price slightly differently than a purely town-based instructor.
My pricing structure
I keep my pricing straightforward and competitive for the Inverurie, Kemnay and Kintore area, in both manual and automatic cars. Standard lessons are £47.50 per hour, and to help make lessons more affordable as you build up hours towards your test, I offer a discounted block of 10 hours for £450 — a saving of £25 compared to paying for 10 at the standard rate.
